We can also provide Bed & Breakfast

Rural but not isolated, we enjoy a peaceful and secluded position in the Severn Vale, adjacent to the Gloucester-Sharpness Canal, with fine views over farmland towards Slimbridge Church and the Cotswold hills.   We are within walking distance of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and in winter enjoy the sights and sounds of migrating wildfowl.

Breakfast is served

The accommodation is in the annexe, a very old part of the house, and comprises a comfortable twin-bedded room with tea and coffee making facilities, TV, separate shower room, lobby and private entrance.

Breakfast, for which we source the best local produce , is served in the main house.

Places of interest nearby are The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust; Berkeley Castle and the Jenner Museum;  the magnificent Gloucester Cathedral;  Westonbirt Arboretum (famous for its acer glades in autumn); and the Forest of Dean, as well as many ancient Cotswold towns and villages.  Our own parish church in Slimbridge is well worth a visit:  at the West end, there is a linen-fold pattern Screen in memory of William Tyndale, the translator of the Bible from Greek into English.  He was reputedly born at Hurst Farm in Slimbridge and certainly spent his early boyhood in the parish.

For walkers, there is the Severn Way alongside the canal, and the Cotswold Way 5 miles distant.

A pub, which serves good meals and local beer and cider, is only a few minutes' walk down the lane.

At Saul by Sandfield Bridge on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal is the Stables Café - www.thestablescafe.co.uk.  The stables once housed the horses which were used to tow vessels up and down the canal.  Open all day, the Stables is an ideal stopping place when out for a walk along the canal and feeling hungry - their delicious snacks, sandwiches, soups and hot meals, as well as tea, coffee and soft drinks, will banish any hunger pangs.
