Garden Design Course

A course for beginners and second year students who want to design their own gardens
 or promote an interest in garden design

Classes are small, informal and held at my home in Slimbridge

On the Beginners Course, you will learn how to measure up and draw your garden to scale and how to design the garden to suit your needs

On the 2nd Year Course, students will learn more advanced design; gardens throughout the seasons and garden management in their own gardens, as well as Garden History

In Plant Planning, you learn how to plan effective beds and borders based on plant texture, shape and colour.   A practical is held at a local garden centre on combining plants, always a very popular exercise

Simple graphics to illustrate your designs are combined with more border planning

Beginners Course on Wednesdays from
8th September

7.00 pm – 9.00 pm

This will include one 4-hour practical on measuring a garden on Saturday 18th September, 9.00 am - 1.00 pm

Course for 2nd Year students Thursdays from 9th September

9.45 am - 2.45 pm
with an hour for lunch

One Day Courses 2011

Pruning Shrubs and Roses

Pruning causes more confusion than any other garden task but is simple when you know how.  Learn the theory, then practise on a selection of shrubs, climbers and roses

Growing and Training Fruit in Small Spaces

Discover the techniques of growing and training fruit trees into beautiful espaliers, cordons and fans to make the most of even the smallest garden
